Terms & Conditions

These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the Muslim Companion mobile application ("Application") created by Nourdine AIT TMAZIRTE ("Service Provider") and distributed as an Ad-Supported service. By downloading or using the Application, you agree to these Terms. Please read them carefully.

1. Intellectual property

Unauthorised copying, modification, reverse-engineering, or redistribution of the Application is prohibited. All trademarks, copyrights, database rights, and other intellectual-property rights related to the Application remain the property of the Service Provider. The Application embeds Quranic text and authentic hadiths sourced from the public domain or permissive APIs (HadeethEnc, AlQuran.cloud, AlAdhan). Original editorial content (prophet, companion, and figure narratives) derived from classical references (Ibn Kathir, Tabari, Bukhari, Muslim, etc.) remains the intellectual property of the Service Provider.

2. Account and local data

The Application stores user-entered data on your device's local storage only. Maintaining the security of your device and access to the Application is your responsibility. The Application's behaviour on devices that have been rooted, jailbroken, or otherwise modified beyond manufacturer specifications cannot be guaranteed; performance and security may differ from the standard experience.

3. Donations

Donations are entirely optional. They are processed outside the Application by tapping a link that opens Buy Me a Coffee in your default browser. There is no in-app billing, no subscription, no auto-renewal, and the Application stores no payment data. Refunds are governed by Buy Me a Coffee's own policy; the Service Provider has no independent refund obligation. Should the Application introduce in-app billing in the future, this section will be updated and you will be notified through the standard Privacy Policy / Terms update mechanism.

4. Internet, network and battery

Some features require an active internet connection (Wi-Fi or mobile data). The Service Provider is not responsible for the Application failing to operate at full capacity due to lack of access. Mobile network charges, including roaming, may apply; you are responsible for any such charges. The Service Provider is also not responsible for situations caused by your device being uncharged.

5. Content accuracy and disclaimer

The Service Provider strives to ensure that the Application's religious content is accurate and rigorously sourced. The Application relies on third-party APIs (HadeethEnc, AlQuran.cloud, AlAdhan) for some content and on Google Translate for runtime translation in 18 of the 33 supported languages. For matters of religious importance, please consult a qualified scholar. The Application is provided as a personal religious-life companion, not as a fatwa-issuing authority.

6. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the Application is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind. The Service Provider shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages arising out of or in connection with your use of the Application, including without limitation: loss of data, loss of revenue, loss of opportunity, missed prayers due to alarm or notification failure, mistaken religious interpretation, or any other loss or damage. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain warranties or liabilities; in such jurisdictions, the Service Provider's liability shall be limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.

7. Use of Artificial Intelligence

The Application uses Google Translate (an AI-based translation service) to translate bundled hadith and verse content into languages without a pre-bundled native translation. No personal data is sent to AI services — only the religious text being translated. The Application does not use generative AI.

8. Updates and termination

The Service Provider may release updates to the Application from time to time and may discontinue the Application at any time without prior notice. You agree to install updates when offered. Upon discontinuation: (a) the rights and licences granted to you under these Terms terminate, (b) you must cease using the Application and (if necessary) delete it from your device.

9. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by French law. Any dispute arising from or in connection with these Terms or the use of the Application shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts at the Service Provider's domicile, save where mandatory consumer-protection rules of your country of residence provide otherwise.

10. Changes to these Terms

The Service Provider may update these Terms at any time. Updates will be reflected on this page with an updated "Effective date". Continued use of the Application after a change is published constitutes acceptance of the change.
